Mission
´Those who live in a swamp would prefer to drain it than adapt to it.’ (Lieve Van den Broeck)
In swamplands such as the Everglades, ecosystems change constantly. Interfering with this dynamic means damaging an intricate network of organisms and risking damage to those far beyond the physical area itself.
Our attempts to drain life’s morass damage our own wilderness too. But it is precisely this wilderness that supports the unique diversity of life and through that the continuation of life itself. We can learn to live peacefully in this constantly changing world by accepting its wilderness and by starting to change ourselves.
The ‘ecosystems’ of the world of justice evolve as well. I therefore look to develop openness & empathy, a sense of personal responsibility & decisiveness in lawyers who, after all, are at the service of society. My mission? To ensure that lawyers, who hold a key position in society, are appreciated for what they do, so that in the end ethical understanding and general satisfaction with those who practice law eventually coincide.
